This might be my all-time favorite At The Drive-In video. Never thought I’d have a chance to see them… I do hope they do something on the East coast. As well as Refused. I’d also be very grateful if The Receiving End of Sirens did something other than Bamboozle (although their appearance there hasn’t entirely been confirmed).
Seriously though, I’m 5’0”. I thoroughly enjoy live shows, being in my own zone, dancing… but I do not enjoy being kicked in the mouth.
The video footage is from the Big Day Out Festival (January, 2001) in Sydney, Australia.
Since the 2001 break-up, post-rock progenitors: At The Drive-In, continued to create and release gorgeous music.
I’d list what Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocalist) and Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez have released over the decade… but we’d be here for hours. They, or at least Mr. Rodriguez-Lopez, consistently puts out about 5 albums a year- solo or otherwise. Their most notable project is The Mars Volta.
Jim Ward, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar went on to form the less commercially successful- Sparta.
Jim Ward also fronted a project called, Sleepercar.
Paul Hinojos is now involved with the rapper, Hyro Da Hero.
Please play New York, ATDI.
